A little bit about me

My name is Carly Schwartzman and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Albany, NY. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. I completed my Predoctoral Internship at the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Hospital in Bronx, NY, and my Postdoctoral Fellowship at MindWell Psychology in Latham, NY.

I practice psychotherapy from an integrative lens, which means that I incorporate varying evidence-based therapy approaches into my work that are tailored to the needs and preferences of my clients. Some of these practices include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

  • Harm Reduction

  • The Unified Protocol for Emotional Disorders

  • Exposure and Response Prevention

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples

Above all else, I do my best to create a comfortable space where clients can be authentically themselves and I am real and honest in return. I encourage feedback along the way to make sure my clients are receiving the services they deserve, that demonstrate effectiveness and quality. I know the resources it takes to commit to therapy, and take pride in my responsibility to support clients in ways that feel most valuable and worthwhile to them.
